Encino Open MRI uses the Hitachi Airis II open MRI machine, with high-performance state-of-the-art imaging technology. This award-winning MRI machine uses cutting-edge technology to produce high-quality images for physicians and radiologists, while providing an exceptionally comforting experience for patients. The Airis II’s vast open design is engineered to accommodate any concerns that a patient may have, including acute care needs, claustrophobia, geriatrics, larger patients, and pediatrics. Patients lie in the comfortable imaging bed and are able to see around themselves on all four sides of the open MRI machine.
How it Works
During a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), a patient will lie flat on the MRI Machine bed as radio-frequency waves are directed towards their body using powerful magnets. The protons in the body, which are highly sensitive to magnetic fields, all line up together. The radio waves are turned on and off to bounce the protons out of alignment. This causes the protons to send out magnetic signals. These signals are then picked up by the MRI machine, which turns them into an image; similar to the way a computer screen turns pixels into an image.
The Clinical Advantages
- Hundreds of clustered radio-frequency coils engineered to produce high-quality resolution and contrast of tissue.
- Internal plastic surgery imaging to discover possible ruptures or tears in work such as breast implants.
- Ability to perform a magnetic resonance angiography of the circulatory system to examine blood flow of arteries and veins.
- Motion imaging capabilities that can target a specific painful areas of a patient’s body, such as imaging the cervical spine in flexion and extension or a shoulder in abducted position.
The images obtained by our Open MRI scanner will provide a literal view of what is happening inside your body. An MRI can be used to rule out and narrow the causes of present symptoms.
